Coaching

What is it?

Situational Coaching - Used when individuals are faced with a situation, problem, perceived hurdle or barrier and need help to progress beyond it. It tends to be problem focused and is often brief and time limited.

Transformational Coaching - Used when individuals want to achieve a medium to longer-term goal, aspiration, or have a 'journey' they wish to undertake and they require assist in this. Or perhaps need help with identifying the end goal or the best route for them to take. It tends to be based on a number of coaching sessions over a period of time and may include situational coaching to resolve specific problems.

Where is it done?

Business - Focusing on the individual and the challenges they face in their business context whilst establishing a holistic understanding of the individual. It addresses the need for the individual to perform effectively in work and the problems and barriers preventing this.

Life - Focusing on getting the balance right across all domains of the individual's life in the short and long term. This is often used to help individuals achieve balance and fulfilment in both work and life.

How is it done?

Assessment-based - Regardless of the type of coaching undertaken or the context, most of our coaching is assessment based and concentrates on the individual and identifying the problem they are facing. The type of assessment is likely to vary depending the presenting problem, the context, and the time available. The aim is to establish a robust understanding of the individual and the problem whilst increasing self-awareness and self-insight - critical if coaching is to be successful.

Outcome focused - Clear goals/objectives are set for the coaching sessions and for the intervening time between sessions. In the context of TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHING a clear action plan or route map will be established. There is an expectation that a large proportion of development will be undertaken outside of the coaching sessions. This will maximise the transfer of learning and increases self-sufficiency.

Psychology - We are Chartered Psychologists and therefore our coaching is underpinned by current psychological theory and practice. We also use Cognitive Behavioural Coaching; Psychometric Testing and a variety of other proven tools and techniques.

What we use and how we use them depends on the individual, the context and the problem.
